|September 12, 2019 – “The Spirituality of Architecture”
John Myefski earned both his Bachelor and Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan. Prior to founding his own architectural design practice 25 years ago, John gained his field experience at highly respected firms like Murphy/Jahn and Albert Kahn. As Principal of Myefski Architects, John built his company by taking a detailed and creative approach to every project. John, and his wife Patty, have been members of Christ Church since 2005.
|October 10, 2019 – “Christ on the Move in the Middle East Today and among Muslims Worldwide”
The events of September 11, 2001 rocked the Muslim world as much as it did the Christian and Western world. Dan McNerney is an Associate Director of Frontier Fellowship, a mission support group serving churches worldwide. In recent years, Dan has helped churches in the United States to establish redemptive, bridge-building relationships with local Muslim and Jewish communities for the purpose of being a Gospel witness among these unreached people in our own country江西11选5开奖结果. |November 14, 2019 – “Finding God in the Practice of Law”
Tom Kuhns was a 1980 graduate of Northwestern University Law School. Upon graduation, he clerked for Judge James Hunter III on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia. In 1981, Tom joined the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis as a trial lawyer where he spent the next thirty years trying civil cases across the United States. In 2012, Tom was appointed General Counsel for the firm and has held that position for the past 7 years. Tom and his wife, Dr. Amy Kuhns, moved to Northfield in 1989 and have been members of Christ Church since 1990.

Worship services are a multi-sensory opportunity to accept and care for our whole selves. Join Amanda MacDonald to talk about how Sunday morning (and any time) can be an opportunity for renewal of Mind, Spirit, AND Body. Amanda Blair MacDonald is a movement educator and consultant based in Chicago and Winnetka who recently recorded a TEDx talk “How We Move Is How We Think.” Amanda, her husband Dan, and her daughter, Mattie Blair, all sing in our choir and joined the church in 2012.

Icons are sometimes called “Windows into Heaven” or “the Gospel in color.” They have the capacity to draw us deeper into relationship with God. In this presentation we will contemplate several important icons and let them lead us into prayer. The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey D. Lee is the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Chicago serving since February 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Nashotah House Seminary. He and his wife, Lisa Rogers Lee, have two children, Katherine and Jonathan.

Depression and anxiety is on the rise in today’s teenage population and as a result, unhealthy coping skills such as substance use and self-injurious behaviors are also surging. This discussion will focus on potential causes of this concerning trend, along with the signs and symptoms that a teenager’s mental health may be at risk. Molly Champagne, a Christ Church parishioner since the age of 11, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor. She works in private practice at Affiliates in Counseling.

Very occasionally, the Episcopal Church recognizes persons of extraordinary merit. This talk will be about three great saints and how knowledge about their learning, their labor, and their lives can make better disciples of us all. David Webster grew up at Christ Church and has been very involved on the Diocesan level representing Christ Church. He served on the Board of Trustees of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary where he received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity for his years of service. David and his wife, Lucia, live in Lake Forest. Their daughter, Jessie, lives in Chicago.
